Pakistan to introduce 5G internet technology by the end of 2021

South Korea, China, and the United States are the leading countries building and deploying 5G technology. Telecommunication operators around the world AT&T Inc., KT Corporation, and China Mobile have been racing to build fifth-generation (5G) of wireless technology. Pakistan has also announced that the government would introduce 5G technology by the end of 2021.

Pakistan Information Technology Minister Aminul Haq said, “Government is taking effective measures to introduce latest services in Pakistan and ensure that this will be done by December 2021.”

He further said the Chinese company would help the government in this regard. Before this step, the government has to connect Islamabad, Karachi, and Gwadar via Optical fibers.

Moreover, the IT minister has established a policy committee on bidding for the 5G services. He is currently looking for an international consultant to set the prices and other conditions.

Wang Hua, chairman, and CEO of Zong said that Zong had become the first operator in Pakistan who successfully did a trial of 5G. He added that 5G service in Pakistan would be 100 times faster than the current internet speed. According to reports, “5G home routers speed has been recorded at 4 gigabytes per second, which means that it can download a 50 GB file in just two minutes.”
