Zoom: Learn Some Tips For Using This Web Conferencing App

The best video conferencing apps can do more than just arrange a virtual meeting. They show you everything you have on your screen on the call, deliver any meeting to anyone else without interruption, and record the call as a video. The web conferencing service Zoom offers these features and more, some of which are hidden options in advanced menus. The tips and tricks below will show you how to use the app better to work, learn and interact with others in practice.

Record Meeting and share screen

Recording is a very useful feature of Zoom. Want important meetings or employees to meet each other? Record them for reference. Want to reduce things by taking interviews and not taking notes? Record it and get it transcribe. We do this for all of our founding interviews.

Screen sharing is one of the key features that Zoom does better than any other video conferencing platform we tried.

Settings zoom and galley view

If you fix these settings once, they’ll reward you with optimized Zoom meetings forever… Gallery view lets you see everyone in the meeting at once, instead of just the person speaking. To turn that on, click the tab that says “Gallery view” in the top right corner.

Always Turn of Video

Unless video is needed, we’ve noticed that turning it off can increase call clarity.
This special setting allows you to turn off the call when you enter it (you can always turn it on later) – which is another helpful way to reduce sudden interruptions.
You can access the video settings directly from the zoom call by clicking on the arrow next to the camera.

Learn some keyboard shortcuts for zoom

If you use Zoom more than once a week, you can learn some keyboard shortcuts to save time.
