Ice Hockey is usually played in western countries but in last few years, Ice Hockey and sports are being trending in Pakistan! Ice Hockey and Ice skating has been played at different parts of country i.e. Malam Jabba, Naltar , Hunza Valley!
In Pakistan, National Ice Hockey Championship was first introduced at ALTIT VALLEY of Hunza Pakistan in 2016! Now this championship is being held every year in winters by SCARF! After Altit, it has been boosted in different parts of Hunza like Gojal & Ghizer Valley (Khalti Lake)!
The ice-skating, hockey, event is held over a natural lake which freezes during the winters.
Meet Sunail Karim aged 24 years from Altit Hunza Valley of Pakistan, who is one of the pioneers and introducing ice hockey in Hunza. He started ice hockey back in 2015 with his friends Naseer Uddin & Naseer Ahmad by just rolling skates in summers.
In 2016, Sunail and his team members were not able to get the proper kits and sponsorships for their national events! But eventually after the success of first event in Pakistan they were able to get big sponsors and Kits. In 6 Years of his career as National Ice Hockey Player , Sunail has taken part in many Local & National events of Ice Skating ! He has won many tournaments & matches for his team!
He has played a key role in promoting the ICE HOCKEY all over the Pakistan.! They used to train ICE HOCKEY to other children from in their valley and promoting the sports accross the region!
According to recent interview with Sunail, Sunail said to our team MediaRay that his companion & captain of the team Mr Ahmad & Naseer ud Din together work so hard to make the successful events every year in Altit. Due to handwork of these guys, they are able to get big sponsors like PIA, Serena Hotels for their events and their fellow sportsmen!
