If you’re watching an older film, you might find large black bars sandwiching the film on the top and bottom of your screen. No matter what time you grew up watching TV, there is a universal bane that haunts nightlife , ruins classic movies and sparks a heated and frustrating debate without a satisfying winner: the terrible horror of “black bars.” We can at least expect some consistency from contemporaries TV and movies made for the mother TV sets, right?
Meet Jack Snyder’s Justice League, a meme-based success of the film that originally debuted in widescreen format three years ago, but has been reborn on HBO Max with new scenes, more characters and two scary black bars flanking each side of a square image.
It does not, but it’s not exactly Zack Snyder’s fault. Although he started production on that version of the film, he had to retire in 2017 after a family tragedy. Joss Wheldon went in to complete the movie for theatrical release, but the change of direction left viewers with a film that was quite far from Snyder’s original vision.
Fans called the Warner Bros: Release The Snyder cut, and here we have the new icon and all.
