Culture of Gilgit-Baltistan and Natural Hopper Valley

Gilgit-Baltistan is inherited by people of different sects, Gilgit is located in the north eastern part of Pakistan in the northerly regions that have an autonomous status in Pakistan. They have a diversity of their culture, customs and traditions. Gilgit-Baltistan’s cultural heritage, Pakistan is prominent in local traditions, music and local dress. Hopper Valley is a beautiful and natural valley of this region. Gilgit is an old city that has been an important trading region for centuries due to its location on the Silk Road. This city has a population of more than 200,000.
The climate of Gilgit varies from region to region, Gilgit is hot during the day in summer but cold at night and valleys like Astor, Khalo, Yasin, Hunza and Nagar where the temperature is cold even during summer season. Today we will share with you something about the beauty of Nagar Valley.

Nagar Valley

Nagar was an independent principality for more than 1200 years. The Hoper Valley is a scenic portion of the Nagar Valley in Pakistan. Hoper Valley is basically a lush green land surrounded by snow-capped mountains. You can also visit the Hoper Glacier as well. Hoper Valley is home of the Spantik and Hoper (Hopper) glaciers. 1 to 2 hour trek is required if you want to touch the glacier down the valley. This glacier looks like blackish white snow. The valley has many natural formations, including glaciers, lakes and high mountains. There are three glaciers in the valley, Hoper glacier, Barpu glacier, Mier glacier.
