Lightweight, light-colored and loose-fitting clothing helps protect against heat. Change clothing if it gets completely saturated. Slow down and work at an even pace. Know your own limits and ability to work safely in heat. Take time for rest periods and water breaks in a shaded or air conditioned area. Use sunscreen and wear a hat if working outside. Find shade or block out the sun if possible. Eat smaller meals, Eat fruits high in fiber and natural juice. Avoid high protein foods.

Stay hydrated with plenty of water, even if you’re not thirsty. Hot weather causes you to sweat, and it’s vital to replenish the lost fluids or you’ll overheat. Have a water bottle within reach as you go about your day to avoid dehydration.

Stay inside during the hottest part of the day (10 A.M to 4 P.M.) and limit time outside in the Sun. Never leave children or pets alone in hot vehicles, even for a second. Avoid strenuous activity and postpone outdoor games and events. Wear a hat or even carry an umbrella.
