Jeffrey Preston Bezos is one of the top entrepreneurs of the world who started his career life with a job in a private firm and now he is the founder of world largest online shipping retailer Amazon.com. He is a 54 years old and 5’4’’ tall American entrepreneur, philanthropist and an investor. He is one of richest people in the world due to his business ventures like Amazon, Blue origin and The Washington Post.
Education and Early life
Bezos was born from a teenage mother Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen and father Ted Jorgensen on Jan 12, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His mother remarried to Mill Bezos who was a Cuban immigrant when he was 4 years old. Jeff Bezos showed his creative site as a child when he first turned a garage into the laboratory. He started his high school in Miami and he started his first business by organizing an educational summer camp for school kids. Bezos was interested in Computer so he graduated with a degree in Computer science and electrical engineering from Princeton University.
Personal life
In 1993 Bezos married to Mackenzie Tultle. He met Mackenzie when was working in D.E Shaw. They have four children and both are involved in philanthropic activities. Bezos owns five houses, expensive cars and a private jet. Bezos net salary in 2018 hits £130 Billion.
Career life
Bezos started his career by working at firms on wall streets which include Bankers trust, Fietel and D.E Shaw. In 1990 he became the vice president of the company. He was the youngest vice president of the company. In 1994 he took a risk and quit his job and moved to seattle and started working on the online bookstore. He first set up his office in his garage and with the help of few employees, he started to develop a software. After working day and night he expanded his office into a two bedroom house on July 16, 1995. Bezos opened Amazon.com and sold books in 45 foreign countries and across united states without any press promotion. After two months, sales reached to £20,000 a weak. In 1998 Bezos diversified Amazon with the sale of videos and CD’s and later with other things such as toys, electronics etc. In 1995 Amazon annual sale was £51,000 which flourished and jumped to £17 billion in 2012. In July, 2017 Bezos declared as the world wealthiest person due to his net worth of £90 million and his net worth in 2018 is £130 billion.
Along with Amazon Bezos started his other business ventures, In 2000 he founded an aerospace company Blue Origin. He founded this company due to his fascination with space travelling.
He purchased The Washington post on Aug 5, 2013 with the net worth of £250 million.
Recently he announced his healthcare venture of forming a healthcare company with Berkshir Hathaway and JP Morgan in a joint press release.
