Let’s talk about 8 things turkey is known and famous for. Turkey is noted for having a rich mix of both eastern and European traits, such as the gorgeous Hagia Sophia and the traditional Turkish tea that is served there.

In addition to this, it is famous for its carpets, hammams, bazaars, and tourist attractions, such as Istanbul and Cappadocia, and its delicious desserts, such as baklava and Turkish delight.

Thanks to its vast size and unusual topography, this Land of the Crescent Moonis peppered with interesting characteristics you won’t find anywhere else.

What is Turkey famous for?

1. Istanbul:

However, Istanbul is the most popular tourist destination in Turkey. After all, it is home to world-famous landmarks, including the Hagia Sophia, and retail destinations such as the Grand Bazaar. Because of its importance, many people mistake Istanbul for Turkey’s capital. Istanbul is situated between Europe and Asia.

2. Hagia Sophia

Hagia Sophia is a cultural treasure regarded as one of the world’s most delicate constructions. However, Hagia Sophia began as a Christian church before becoming a mosque and subsequently a museum. The edifice is now used as a mosque, although travelers are still welcome to visit and investigate it.

3. Bosphorus Strait

The Bosphorus, which currently joins the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara, was formerly the Bosphorus river. The Bosphorus strait now flows into the Bosphorus sea.

However, more than its rivers, the Bosphorus strait is notable for dividing European Istanbul from Asian Istanbul. A ferry goes routinely over this strait, transporting travelers to a new continent in 20 minutes.

4. Grand Bazaar

Moreover, the Grand Bazaar is one of the world’s biggest marketplaces, as its name suggests. Consequently, it can provide a wide variety of products: it is home to more than 4,000 shops and delivers daily services to around 500,000 customers. The Grand Bazaar was built in 1455 and is one of the oldest marketplaces in Turkey, making it a historical gem.

5. Galata Bridge

However, the Galata Bridge is one of Turkey’s most recognized sights, as shown by its appearance on postcards and in works of art.

It runs along the Golden Horn and is a renowned tourist attraction in Istanbul. Cafés and eateries line the street below it, enabling people to socialize in a traditional Turkish way.

6. Ephesus

Ephesus was once a bustling commercial hub. The historic landmark, which is cherished by the Christian community, draws many tourists each year who come to the city to marvel at it.

Although Ephesus, on the other hand, with its breathtaking ruins, is an attractive site enjoyed by both its inhabitants and its guests.

7. Cappadocia

Turkey is now known as an Instagrammable nation! With its cave dwellings and cobblestoned pathways, Cappadocia is unquestionably a fairytale town.

However, Cappadocia’s hot air balloons are the most popular – they float at daybreak, creating a magnificent spectacle of brilliant and multicolored aircraft against the beautiful orange sky.

8. Tea from Turkey

However, offering tea is a traditional etiquette norm in Turkey. Expect to be offered a tea drink whether you visit a local house or a souvenir store. Turkish tea is traditionally served in a small glass on a charming saucer with sweets like Kurabiye (biscuits) or Turkish delight.
